Contents: Mazurkas from the guitar repertoire by Sor (2), Mertz (1), Coste (2), Legnani (1), Tárrega (4), Barrios (2) and Sagreras (2).  Transcriptions of Chopin (4), Debussy (1), de Falla (1) and Granados (1).

Description:  Some of the guitar mazurkas will be familiar (Tárrega, Barrios) but most have seldom been performed and are published only in facsimile editions (Sor, Mertz, Coste, Legnani).  I provided some fingerings for these, but they are not heavily edited and fingered.  The Coste, which were conceived for his seven-string guitar, required only slight revision.  Most of the piano mazurkas are new transcriptions.  Of the Chopin, two – Op. 17 Nos. 2 and 4 – are completely new, and two – Op. 33 Nos. 1 and 4 – are based on the transcriptions made by Tárrega.  The Granados works particularly well for guitar, and is exceptionally beautiful.  The Debussy is also a great find – seldom played by pianists, but extremely attractive.
